We are looking for a Correspondents Lead to own end-to-end the strategy, implementation, and operation of our Banking Correspondents channel in Mexico. This role will be responsible for building, scaling, and operating a robust correspondent network, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of the correspondent model (0 → 1 and scaling).
- Manage integrations with correspondent network managers and direct correspondents (retailers, aggregators, networks).
- Coordinate and execute the regulatory approval process with the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV), including preparation and submission of the PEN (Business Strategic Plan).
- Define and document operational processes, controls, and reconciliation flows.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulation (banking correspondents, AML/CFT, operational guidelines).
- Lead onboarding of new correspondents from negotiation to go-live.
- Oversee day-to-day operations: transaction monitoring, incidents, SLAs, and operational continuity.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (Product, Tech, Operations, Legal, Compliance) and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to expand and optimize the channel.
- Define and track KPIs (volume, coverage, costs, uptime, fraud, etc).
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in banking, fintech, or payments, with a focus on banking correspondents.
- Proven experience integrating and operating with correspondent network managers and networks.
- Hands-on experience with CNBV processes, including PEN preparation.
- Strong understanding of Mexican regulatory framework.
- Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects.
- Strong operational knowledge: reconciliation, settlement, incident management, and risk controls.
- Highly structured profile with strong execution and ownership mindset.
- Native Spanish and advanced English proficiency.
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, build-from-scratch environments.
Nice to have
- Experience launching new payment rails or financial products.
- Prior interaction with regulators or authorization processes.
- Experience working with retailers or non-bank correspondent networks.
