The Opportunity:

Ledn is hiring a full-time, UK-based Senior Product & Regulatory Counsel to help shape our product legal strategy and regulatory framework to enable our digital asset products across the UK, EU, and Australia. Ledn is navigating significant regulatory change across these regions, including the upcoming UK FCA cryptoasset regulatory regime, the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), and the evolving Australian digital asset regulatory framework overseen by ASIC. The successful candidate must have the ability to navigate these frameworks and the broader evolving regulatory landscape across the UK, EU, and Australia, in collaboration with external counsel.

You will serve as a trusted legal partner to Ledn’s Product and other business teams, advising on product design, new feature development, strategic partnerships and product-related commercial agreements. You will also collaborate closely with Ledn’s Compliance team to monitor regulatory developments, oversee licensing and registration efforts, and engage with regulators, with a particular focus on the UK FCA, EU MiCA, and Australian ASIC regulatory frameworks.

You will report to Ledn’s Chief Legal Officer and work closely with executive leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong legal expertise in financial services regulation and/or product legal advisory, hands-on experience in the digital asset industry, and the ability to operate in a fast-evolving regulatory and product landscape.

About The Role:

Product Counsel

  • Serve as the primary legal partner to Ledn’s Product and other business teams, providing timely, practical legal advice on product design, new feature development, strategic partnerships and go-to-market strategies for digital asset products and services.
  • Advise on the regulatory and legal implications of product decisions, ensuring new products and features are developed in a manner consistent with applicable legal and regulatory requirements across the UK, EU, and Australia.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of product-related commercial agreements, including technology, partnership, integration, and vendor agreements relevant to Ledn’s product suite.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including Product, Compliance, Finance and Operations, to build and maintain scalable legal frameworks and guidance for product development and launch processes.

Regulatory Advisory & Strategy

  • Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on financial services and digital asset regulatory requirements across the UK, EU, and Australia.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Legal Officer as well as the Compliance, Product, and Business teams to develop and refine Ledn’s regulatory strategy across the UK, EU and Australia and advise on regulatory implications of product design and business initiatives.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments across key jurisdictions impacting digital assets, lending, custody, exchange and other related activities, and assess impact on Ledn’s business.
  • Support expansion into new markets across the UK, EU and Australia by assessing regulatory feasibility and requirements.

Lead Licensing & Regulatory Applications

  • Manage and coordinate external counsel on regulatory licence and registration applications across the UK, EU, and Australia. In the UK, this includes supporting Ledn’s FCA authorisation strategy under the upcoming FCA cryptoasset regulatory regime. In the EU, this includes advising on MiCA authorisation/passporting strategy as well as applicable consumer lending licensing. In Australia, this includes advising on applicable ASIC licensing requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain regulatory submissions and supporting documentation.

Engage Regulators & Influence Policy

  • Engage with relevant regulators across the UK, EU, and Australia, including the FCA, relevant EU national competent authorities, ASIC, and other relevant bodies, on emerging regulatory developments.
  • Monitor and contribute to regulatory consultations, discussion papers, and industry dialogues relevant to digital asset lending to shape Ledn’s external regulatory positioning.
  • Work with internal stakeholders including Product and Compliance to assess the impact of regulatory change on Ledn’s products and business strategy.

Required:

  • Qualified lawyer in a recognised jurisdiction with 7+ years post-qualification experience (PQE) in a regulatory, financial services, or related practice area, currently in good standing.
  • Strong understanding of UK financial services regulation and FCA expectations, including working knowledge of the upcoming FCA cryptoasset regulatory regime.
  • Familiarity with EU MiCA and the broader EU digital asset regulatory landscape, and Australian financial services regulation as administered by ASIC.
  • Direct hands-on experience advising on regulatory frameworks, licensing, or compliance obligations for digital asset products or services.
  • Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced, or start-up/scale-up environments.
  • Excellent technology skills and a genuine interest in and aptitude for AI – you are not just comfortable using AI tools but actively seek to champion their adoption and embed them into legal team workflows.
  • Experience advising product or business teams on legal and regulatory matters, including product design, feature development, and commercial agreements in a financial services or digital asset context.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating product-related commercial agreements.
  • Experience supporting regulatory applications and engaging directly with regulators.
