Meet Your Future Neighbors

We are seeking an impact-oriented Sr. Researcher to join our UX Research team specifically focused on building the Nextdoor experience for Businesses and Organizations. You should be passionate about bringing businesses and organizations onto the Nextdoor platform in order to meaningfully connect them with their neighborhoods online and in the real world. In this role, you’ll act as a high-visibility strategic partner who seamlessly translates rigorous and high velocity research into clear implications and calls to action. Your stakeholders will span Product, Design, Engineering, Product Marketing and Sales, and you’ll be responsible for prioritizing work across those functions and communicating your rationale transparently. You’ll adeptly connect the dots of existing research and weave those into holistic narratives that partners can quickly action upon.

You’re revenue-fluent and think critically about how your research insights will not only improve the Neighbor experience, but meaningfully impact revenue at Nextdoor. You are able to create, document and communicate clear processes and ways of engaging with your work and the Research team as a whole. You’re willing to roll-up your sleeves to move the work, and you’re excited to shape the strategy and roadmap that lead to truly customer-centric product development and messaging. You welcome various points of view and are able to build consensus and dictate a unified path forward.

If you crave a challenge in a fast-paced environment, developing a strong research point of view and take pride in contributing to the growth of a world-class UX team, then this is the place for you.

The Impact You’ll Make

  • Guide cross functional teams to draw meaningful insights from research and communicate them clearly and powerfully to stakeholders
  • Lead cross-functional brainstorms, discussions, research lit reviews and insight shareouts
  • Effectively socialize research to ensure that it’s understood, internalized and acted upon by teams across the business
  • Lead purposeful relationship-building with a wide array of partners (e.g., Design, Product, Engineering), other insight-generating functions and beyond
  • Leverage a variety of research perspectives, including, but not limited to: conducting primary and secondary research, data science & analytics, social sciences, as well as engaging external social science researchers and academic experts where applicable

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 6-8 years driving strategic research projects at an agency, in-house, or both for technology companies, mobile software products and systems or in the media & advertising space
  • Experience with 0-1 product development: exploration, competitive analysis, ideation, consensus building and concepting
  • Experience with conducting research with commercially-minded entities: SMBs, Local Publishers, brands, etc., including recruitment techniques and deep understanding of research nuances
  • Fluency in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and the ability to leverage multiple data streams into a cohesive and compelling narrative
  • Deep experience managing senior level cross functional relationships and effectively communicating, integrating and broadly disseminating your research
  • Experience with transitioning teams from ambiguity and undefined processes to clarity and communicated steps forward
  • An excellent communicator and committed partner that’s able to balance business outcomes with team needs and healthy, productive cross-functional relationships
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, help the team navigate ambiguity and set the vision and strategy
  • Strong sense of empathy for customer needs and insights as well as an intuitive grasp of the business problems we’re solving
  • Deep curiosity about empowering neighbors to strengthen communities, understanding how local businesses enhance their communities, and what makes neighborhoods around the world thrive
  • Experience leading an individual or team is also a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum requirement)
