We expect the tech lead for this new team to start focusing on hiring + actively supporting implementation. As you are successful with hiring, your focus will shift more to people management while continuing to make technical contributions. The organization that Content Ingestion sits in is a widely remote organization with main hubs in San Francisco and New York. The preferred location for this candidate is in San Francisco but we are open to outstanding candidates in New York or looking to relocate.

At Nextdoor, we offer a warm and inclusive work environment that embraces a hybrid employment experience, providing a flexible experience for our valued employees.

  • Make significant technical contributions to the implementation of the ingestion system
  • Architect and oversee the development of scalable and reliable feed infrastructure that supports seamless interactions for millions of users
  • You’ll be involved in all aspects of the product development for a major product area; from strategy, research, prototyping, concept to interaction design, to final QA and code tweaks right before launch
  • You’ll participate in cross-functional brainstorms, discussions, design reviews and interesting and inspiring design team activities
  • Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
  • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values
  • Participate in hiring outstanding talent and develop the engineering resources in the organization
  • You’ll own and drive operational metrics of Content Ingestion

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 1+ years of people management and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
  • Track record of hiring, building and developing high performance engineers
  • Experience in content ingestion and/or user-generated content product development
  • Bring a deep empathy for customer needs and insights as well as an intuitive grasp of the business problems we’re trying to solve
  • Comfort working across the product development spectrum: strategy, ideation, concept work, up to the delivery of the consumption experience
  • Track record of engineering excellence and operations (monitoring, alarming, sev, post-mortem, etc) for your team
  • Experience with Content Ingestion products is a big plus
