Hello! We're Teya.

Teya is a payment and software service provider, headquartered in London serving small, local businesses across Europe. Founded in 2019, we build easy to use, integrated tools that enable our members to accept payments and boost business performance.

At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.

We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses with a fighting chance against the giants of the high street.

We’re here because we see banks and legacy service providers making things harder for them. We don’t think the best technology or the best service should be reserved for those with the biggest headquarters.

We’re here to fight for a future where small, local businesses can thrive, and to commit the same dedication they offer all of us.

Become a part of our story.

We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits.

Your Mission

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of our data platform. This role focuses on data warehousing, scalable data product development, and architectural design, transforming complex data models into reliable and scalable data products that power decision-making across the organisation.

You will play a key role in the redesign and evolution of our data warehouse, helping build a modern platform that supports advanced analytics and lays the foundation for AI and machine learning initiatives. This includes designing scalable data models, improving legacy data solutions, and ensuring high-quality, well-governed datasets that can be reliably used across the business.

As a senior member of the Data Engineering team, you will contribute to platform architecture, data product thinking, and engineering best practices, helping build a world-class scalable Data Platform that enables both analytics and future AI capabilities.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and evolving the architecture of our data warehouse and data platform

  • Transforming complex data models into scalable, production-ready data products

  • Building, maintaining, and improving data models for large and complex datasets

  • Designing and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines to support scalable analytics and data products

  • Establishing reliable, well-governed datasets that serve as a foundation for analytics and AI/ML use cases

  • Improving data reliability, quality, and observability across key datasets

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define and deliver high-impact data products

  • Driving automation and improvements across a legacy ETL ecosystem (~1500 pipelines)

  • Contributing to engineering standards, documentation, and best practices within the data engineering team

  • Staying informed about modern data platform technologies and industry best practices, contributing ideas that help evolve our data stack and engineering practices.

Your Story

  • Strong SQL expertise, particularly in complex analytical and warehouse queries

  • 5+ years experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or Data Platform Engineering

  • Strong experience with data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and data architecture

  • Experience designing and delivering scalable data products

  • Experience with ETL/ELT tooling (DBT, SSIS, Wherescape, or similar)

  • Strong understanding of data pipeline architecture and distributed data systems

  • Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language

  • Understanding of how data platforms support machine learning and AI workflows

  • Strong grasp of software engineering principles and best practices

  • Experience contributing to or leading data warehouse architecture or redesign initiatives

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
