THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring a Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer in our Payments Team in Portugal! This is a Remote – Portugal position, meaning you can work from anywhere within the country. Please note that this role is only open to candidates in Portugal.
The Payments team is responsible for the platform that serves the entire Gympass business, processing millions of transactions for users and companies around the globe. We work closely with cross functional teams and payment service providers to deliver optimum checkout conversion rates and also efficient account management interactions.
The perfect fit is a mid-level software engineer with a history of quality projects delivered, hands-on technical work, willing to work with a team of ~7 mid-level and senior software engineers working from Brazil and Portugal.
Having worked in the e-commerce/financial services and PCI/DSS compliant environments is a plus.
YOUR IMPACT
- Execute strategic projects along with an A-Players software engineering team
- Your deliverables influence B2B and B2C checkout conversion around the globe, by both creating new payment mechanisms and improving/maintaining existing ones
- Together with your team peers, you will implement, test and deliver solutions working with a cross-functional team

WHO YOU ARE
- Focus on making things right and better at every opportunity
- Foundational knowledge on RESTful APIs written in Java/Kotlin + Spring or Golang
- Will to learn more about event driven architectures and serverless
- Software quality and test automation mindset
- Knowledge on Cloud computing (AWS) and Cloud Native (K8s), willing to learn and get deeper understanding on these topics
- Experience with SQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL
- Experience with microservices
- Good understanding on how to scale microservices
